Welcome to the home of S.I.R.!
S.I.R. stands for Sports Incorporated, Rolla and is a non-profit organization that is focused on “preparing” young athletes for the Junior and Senior High School programs in Rolla.
This is a competitive program designed for the more skilled and the more competitive youths in Rolla. The program stresses the instruction and learning of basketball fundamentals --- with winning kept in the proper perspective. Winning is important, but only when conducted with the highest degree of sportsmanship and with the goal of developing the youth always in mind. Young athletes need to enjoy the game of basketball if they are going to continue on to Junior and Senior High programs. Enjoyment is difficult when they continually lose and when there is a win at all costs mentality. 14th Annual SIR Tournament Dec. 3rd It may be the 14th year for SIR to be hosting it's annual tournament, but sometimes, you need to make a change. This year, instead of using the typical tournament format where top seeds face the bottom seeds in the first round, we are moving to a shootout format where we match up teams to try and make every game competitive. We leave behind the focus of winning the tournament and bring back the focus on the development of the players and the team.
Also, the Shooutout in December will focus on boys teams and expand the division to include 4th grade with the girls Shootout will move to February 25th. Games will be played at the High School gyms and the Junior High gym as usual but this will only be a one day tournament to cut down on travel expenses for the participating families.

Upcoming Parent's Meeting Each year, parents of S.I.R. athletes are required to attend a meeting with the S.I.R. Board. During this meeting, the S.I.R. board will review policies with the parents and deliver expectations for the participants, coaching staff, parents and the S.I.R. Board. Also, during this time, parents will submit the player registration form, kids can pick up their free S.I.R. t-shirt (parents and family can order at this time) and pay the registration fee. Remember, this is a mandatory meeting that a parent or guardian must attend one of the sessions. November 15th at the Rolla Junior High Cafeteria from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
Questions about the Parent's night can be directed to Doug James 573-465-0628 Optimist & SIR: Working Together to Build a Program Coach Swafford of RHS met with leaders of the Optimist girls basketball program and S.I.R. to help layout a new approach to preparing young athletes for his high school program. The Optimist program is moving their season up so that they do not conflict with SIR but can instead incorporate the SIR players into their program. SIR coaches can then evaluate the players in the Optimist program and select their team based upon many days of play instead of a few hours of tryouts.
This partnership strongly encourages girls interested in participating in S.I.R. Basketball to play in the Optimist program. SIR teams will be selected in later November and will begin initial practices with plan of playing in Leagues and Tournaments in January and concluding at the end of February. Those girls not selected to participate in SIR and are interested in still playing basketball can participate in Upwards and other programs.
